Irish Port Safety Week 2026
Shannon Foynes Port Company Proud to Support a Culture of Safety, Health and Wellbeing
Shannon Foynes Port Company (SFPC) is proud to support Irish Port Safety Week 2026, taking place from 19 to 23 October, joining ports across Ireland in promoting and strengthening a positive safety culture throughout the maritime and logistics sector.
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. As Ireland’s largest bulk port company, we recognise that maintaining safe, healthy and resilient workplaces requires ongoing commitment, collaboration and continuous learning. Irish Port Safety Week provides an important opportunity to reinforce these values while encouraging awareness, education and engagement across all aspects of port operations.
Throughout the week, SFPC will host a series of activities and events across our facilities in Foynes, Limerick and Cappa, focusing on:
- Workplace Health & Safety
- Emergency Preparedness
- Training & Awareness
- Mental Health & Wellbeing
- Water Safety
- Personal Responsibility and Safety Culture

The programme is designed to support employees, contractors and port stakeholders by providing practical learning opportunities, encouraging discussion and reinforcing best practice.

Spotlight on Wellbeing
A key highlight of this year’s programme will be a special presentation by Ciaran Carey, who will be joined by guest speakers to discuss addiction, recovery and mental health.
With more than twenty years’ experience in counselling and addiction studies, Ciaran will provide valuable insights into the importance of mental wellbeing, while guest speakers will share their personal experiences of addiction and recovery. The session will also include an interactive question and answer discussion.
At SFPC, we recognise that safety extends beyond physical hazards and operational risks. Looking after our mental health, supporting one another and creating an environment where people feel comfortable seeking help are equally important components of a strong safety culture.
Building a Stronger Safety Culture
Irish Port Safety Week is not solely about one week of activities. It is about reinforcing a year-round commitment to ensuring that everyone who works in or visits our ports can do so safely.
By sharing knowledge, learning from experience and working together, we can continue to build workplaces where safety, respect and wellbeing are prioritised every day.
We encourage all employees, contractors and stakeholders to participate in the week’s events and help contribute to a stronger safety culture across our ports.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Together, through awareness, engagement and continuous improvement, we can help ensure that everyone goes home safely at the end of each day.
